Help! On my NuTone Intercom System (IM-3003) the door intercom won't work!?
Help me please!
I have a NuTone Intercom System (Model IM-3003). Its 20-some years old. (I just moved and it is in my new house.) I REALLY want it to work. I have found out how to use it... except for the door. The box next to the door has a speaker, (and I think it is a microphone too,) but I can't seam to talk to the people outside and they can't speak to me. I have all the Speaker Status Switches set to Radio Intercom. (Even though I only have 4 out of the possible 9 intercoms plus the door and Master. The box next to the door is large, with the speaker/microphone and a button that says "CHIME". When I press door talk on any of the intercoms you can't hear it there. But you can hear the door chime from all the intercoms. I don't know if this intercom at the door is just an Accessory called a "CHIME MODULE or ELECTRONIC DOOR CHIME" or if I can use it to talk to people outside. Please help!

I really need your help!
I'd open up the door speaker and look first for corroded contacts on the switch(es). Look also for a loose or broken wire where the cable connects.
Make sure that all the connections at the central power unit are good also.
Anything beyond that may require more advanced troubleshooting techniques and may involve replacement of a damaged wire in some virtually inaccessable location.
