lamp fitting screw connector?

i made a lamp at school as my GCSE coursework, but ive been told to bring it home to wire it up with the fitting because government doesnt allow schools to do electronics of that level.

i believe you need a piece of 1/8 pipe mounted on top of your lamp to accept the bulb fitting

Incandescent bulbs have a typical life of 1,000 hours, compact fluorescents about 8,000 hours. A LED light bulb can be expected to last 25–30 years under normal use. The bulbs maintain output light intensity very well over their life-times. Energy Star specifications require the bulbs to typically drop less than 10% after 6000 or more hours of operation, and in the worst case not more than 15%. They are also mercury free, unlike fluorescent lamps. LED lamps are available with a variety of color properties.
