Will a Apple iPod Radio Remote work on an iphone 3g?

im planning on getting an iphone 3g but was wondering if the "Apple iPod Radio Remote" would work on the iphone 3g, I heard i might im just curious. (sure the iphone it's for touch but I just want to be able to change song or adjust volume without having to take it out of your pocket)

any application that works on the ipod will work fine on the iphone and vice versa.
