Sensor Home Control
Home Security System?
yeah i just bought a older house and the house has a security system at one time but they came in and took the motion sensors, control box and keypads, but all the wiring is still intact. i was wondering where is a good place online that sells systems that i can just hook back up? i own a computer repair shop so im real knowledgeable with electronics so doing the job is no problem. i just dont wanna buy a crappy alarm when i could of got something better by asking someone in this field. Also im sceptict about wireless systems because of all the wireless equipment i run in there already. dont want alot of false alarms due to cordless phones or wireless access points in the house.
You can go onto Amazon and do a search for security systems. There are not actually that many that are rated well. Here is one for $98 that is not bad:

One option you have too after you install the system is to get a third party to monitor it. You don't have to go with ADT or another larger alarm monitoring company. If you do an internet search for alarm monitoring, there are multiple companies out there that do it for around $10 / month. So when you purchase a security system, check with one of those companies first to see what they recommend. You want to get a system that is expandable and also able to be monitored by another company. Most of the systems come with a dialer that dials out to a monitoring company, so as long as you get that, you should be good. Monitronics is one such company:

I have heard of AlarmRelay as well as another monitoring company. If you are checking prices, there is a smarthome.com site I have seen sell a lot of security equipment as well. Stay away from buying systems off of Ebay, since many of them are overseas and not reliable. I purchased some window sensors from overseas and they only lasted for about 1 year.
Avoid the GE Simon alarms, they get fairly poor ratings (even though there are a lot of them sold) - http://www.amazon.com/GE-Simon-Wireless-Security-System/dp/B0006IU8MQ/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1280541542&sr=1-3
If you can spring for it, consider buying a cellular backup system. It's basically a cell phone connection to dial out for your security system. If your phone lines are cut, you are still covered.
Best of luck,

Home Security – How Does A Burglar Alarm System Work?
A burglar alarm system will significantly improve your home security to prevent an intruder attack. In order to choose the best burglar security alarm system it is helpful to understand how they work and what the various basic components are that make up an alarm system.
The basic configuration of an average home security alarm system consists of a control panel, siren and sensors. The control panel will need a permanent power supply and its job is to monitor the sensors so when the alarm is in “armed” mode, it will make the siren sound if any of the sensors are triggered. Depending on the model of alarm, it is often possible to select sensors to go into several zones. You can then decide to switch off certain zones from being monitored, if desired. Why would you want to turn off zones? If you are upstairs asleep in bed you may want to turn off the upstairs sensors so if anyone got up in the night, the alarm would not be triggered.
The siren is the audible alert that gets switched on by the control panel when a sensor is triggered. A siren will need a permanent power supply and should be installed as high up as possible on your property so it cannot be tampered with. Some people even prefer to have the siren positioned inside the property, e.g. in the roof compartment so it cannot be disabled. Others, who use monitored home security, prefer not to have a siren at all. So when the alarm is triggered, the monitoring company will react to the alarm call and send for help on your behalf. There is no doubt however, that a siren has visual impact and will deter burglars, even before they have entered onto your property.
The final main components that make up an alarm systems are the sensors. There are a variety of sensors available that all monitor your home in a different way. For example, a door switch generally uses a magnetic reed switch to detect if a door has been opened whereas a PIR motion detector will use infra-red technology to detect movement in a room. You would generally have a PIR detector per room and door switches on each exterior door. There are door and window shock sensors that can detect a strike to your doors or windows. Many home security alarms allow the addition of smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors. As they are connected to your alarm, if smoke or deadly carbon monoxide is detected, your alarm will be triggered too.

Mario Kart is awesome. I can't wait until Wii Fit comes out. I think thats actually tomorrow. You'll be amazed the amount of people that plays the Wii. There are grandparents who play along with their grand children. Truely an amazing system. Sometimes simplier is better. You don't really need all those advance features of the PS3 or Xbox 360.
in no way did i say that i’m an expert. I think that any average person knows how to do precisely what this video showed. The reason i even searched something like this was to get an idea of how to connect various parts of a home theatre system together, like a dvd player a/v system, etc, whether im superior or average doesnt matter, the point is, the video is fuckin pointless, so hey stfu
